Domotex, a leading international fair for Carpets and flooring, opens its doors next week in Hannover, and we are packing up our wares and heading over to exhibit our Rug Collections.
Amid the excitement of our preparations, we are very proud to be included in COVER magazine’s Domotex preview. This beautifully presented quarterly magazine is devoted to handmade rugs and artisan textiles for modern interiors and it is an honour to see our Vazon Rug pictured along with rugs by Sahar, Creative Matters, Bazar du Sud and Hossein Rezvani.
While hosting a tremendous showcase of new rugs, Domotex will also be exploring how the mega-trend of connectivity is embedded in the rug industry with this years theme, CREATE'N'CONNECT, with a ‘Framing Trends’ showcase and daily talks by prominent designers and architects, and COVER Editor Lucy Upward.
The notion of CREATE'N'CONNECT has triggered an interesting discussion here in the studio. For us, rug making is an incredibly collaborative process, intrinsically rooted in both ‘creativity’ and ‘connectivity’. This is in part due to our partnership with Momo Rugs. But more than that, through every step, from design to manufacture and the final presentation of our rugs, there are many creative connections. Every rug we sell has a story that spans many chapters, links many processes, many people and many skills.
This connectivity also stretches beyond the immediate supply chain. There is always a bigger picture to consider. Intertwined with rug making are considerable environmental, sustainability and ethical considerations. From the fibres we choose for our rugs, to the way these are grown or made and prepared, the dyeing of yarns plus our relationships with our suppliers, all of these impact how we connect with and look after the world and those that we share it with.
Then there’s the rugs themselves, how they perform functionally and aesthetically, and how we connect with them. A rug has the power to enhance our relationship with the spaces we inhabit through design, tactility, yarn characteristics, colour and much more - affecting how we engage with a rug and the effect it has on our experience.
There is an added dimension to this with custom designed rugs. Working closely with customers to customise or create a bespoke rug often encourages an even more personal connection for customers.
You can find us in Hall 9 at Domotex Stand A02/01.
