Russell Sage Studio, a London based interior design studio recently commissioned us to make a couple of custom designed rugs for their Sofitel Brussels Europe project. They tell a bit about the process...
"Claire Gaudion produced two rugs for the Sofitel Brussels Europe. A key theme that led the design for this project was the ‘Art of the Unexpected’ drawing on Belgian’s influence on surrealism. We were also influenced by Parc Leopold across the road which can be seen through full height windows along the length of the Restaurant. This led to the other key design route to ‘Bring the Outside In’ through lush planting – even more evident in the Lobby which is flooded by light through its huge conservatory roof.
We commissioned Claire to produce a rug for the Library – an intimate space quite traditional in design but with a contemporary edge in vibrant rich colours. Her Vazon Rug matched the ‘organic’ brief and with our bespoke colours brought all design elements in the room together. In the Bar the brief was to subdivide the area to create a more cosy ‘space within a space’. Again we selected the Vazon rug customised with our colours." Russell Sage Studio
