Mood Boards offer a visual creative tool to help you find clarity and focus for your project whether that be designing your new living room, choosing a rug or deciding on the colour scheme for your home.
Creating a Mood Board is a methodical step by step process which encourages you think about the emotional, functional and aesthetic effects of your design choices. It is a powerful decision making tool for bringing ideas together and showing the look you want to achieve. We use a 5-step process for creating mood boards: DEFINE, INTERPRET, EDIT, CURATE, REVIEW.
The process begins by exploring a project using words and visual prompts. Some people find words a more effective starting point, others work better visually with images, colour samples and materials. Some find that using words and images together has more power to tell a clear and focused story. Using a mix of tactile materials and colours which bring emotional character to the decision making process can help you to consider the design messages you want to convey, and what you want to achieve.
