In our Designer Insights series, Claire shares some thoughts colour, design and inspirations. Here we take a looks at our Grandes Rocques design.
The photo above gives you a glimpse of some the colours and forms seen along the west coast of Guernsey near Grandes Rocques in the evening light. It can look very different through the year and through each day.
“Natural light has a strong effect on colour. Shown here in the last light of a winter’s day, the west coast granite glows. Looking closely there are many colours, many shades and tones. These colours and shades in combination really enrich each other.”
There is so much inspiration to be found in nature.
“Grandes Rocques and Albecq, along the west coast of Guernsey, are places of incredible natural beauty. Dramatic granite rock formations line the beaches and headlands. These seascapes suggest to me abstract patterns and geometric rhythms, and this is where my designing begins.”
Good design is about balance. Finding the right balance of colours, forms and textures.
“Weaving this zigzag pattern as a double cloth, means the fabric can be double-sided - with vibrant, glowing reds and orange on one side, and a softer more subtle palette on the other - creating a balance of colour. Balancing colour is key in design, and in creating successful interiors schemes.”
