Scarlett, Cinnabar, Cochineal, Madder, Vermilion, Coral…
The colour red is often considered to be the most powerful colour of the visible spectrum, with the longest visual wavelength of all colours. Attention grabbing, vibrant and stimulating. But red can be a colour of many characters depending on it’s shade and how it is used.
We are great lovers of combining colours, and shades of colours, and this can dramatically effect the overall results. Our Grandes Rocques design, inspired by Guernsey's west coast pink granite landscape and rich evening skies, features a striking cinnabar red, immersed in a background of orange and grenadine pink to soften the vibrancy of the red. In this design, the strength of the red is toned-down by the other colours in the palette.

Red can also be used as an accent to add interest and warmth to a more muted palette. Our Coral weave is a balanced blend of soft red, pink and copper. This palette has a much softer impact due to the proportion and shade of red in the design.
